Even after their term ends, they get a pension and several other perks. MPs receive a monthly salary of one lakh rupees. They also get a house in Delhi, three phone lines, and free travel by air, rail, and road at the government's expense. While serving as MPs, they are entitled to various facilities. Additionally, former MPs also enjoy several benefits.   MPs receive a monthly salary of 100,000 rupees. They also get a constituency allowance of 70,000 rupees per month. The recently concluded Lok Sabha elections in 2024 witnessed a plethora of candidates vying for seats across the 543 constituencies of the country. A total of 8,337 candidates contested across the 543 constituencies, reflecting the diverse political landscape of the nation. Out of the analyzed candidates, 20% or 1,643 candidates had declared criminal cases against them. This statistic highlights the persisting issue of criminalization of politics in India.
